FAQ

How does this work?

You host your conference call, press a few keys on the phone, the recording starts, you end your call, hang up. Done. We take the recorded call and package it with the descriptions you set up on your account and make sure that everyone gets a copy in their iTunes. Setting up all your series of calls and episodes is easily handled from within your account.

Will I still need an outside recording service?

No. We tie it all together: bridge line, recording, storage and distribution.

How much does this cost?

It's FREE to get started and depending on the package you pick a monthly fee thereafter between $97 and $197

How do I set this up?

Click here to set up your account today. Once you have your account set up you can arrange your first call within minutes.

How do call participants subscribe to my calls once I have set it all up?

There are two ways:

  • Using our tools in your Podference dashboard you can set up a contact list with participants and send out an email to everyone. Each email will contain a unique link for each participant and a 3-step overview on how to set themselves up for iTunes. Once they’ve downloaded iTunes and clicked on their unique link, they will receive every new audio recording.
  • Should you not require unique links for your participants but simply want to make this a public podcast open to anyone, you can grab a generic feed (essentially the link that instructs iTunes to download new audio automatically) from your dashboard and send out an email using your own email client.
What reports are available to me?

The two main reports are call attendance and download frequency:

  • Download frequency tells you how many times a particular student/user has received your audio into their iTunes.
  • Call attendance is just that: it tells you who was on the call and for how long.
How do I best manage my recorded audio?

Since we record all the audio we also store and organize all your audio according to your previously set schedule. Our easy to use tabbed browsing and pull down menus allows you to navigate calls and audio all from within one page. From your account you can also listen to individual calls.

How many non-recorded teleconference calls can I host per month?

As many as you wish.

Is there a limit on how long my call can be?

No.

Can I make changes to titles and descriptions?

You can make changes anytime you wish. We do recommend that you do not change anything after the call has taken place, simply because the changes will not affect those that have already downloaded your calls.

What is a title?

The title should be a brief descriptive sentence that gives the listener an idea of what gets covered in the calls or on a particular episode.

What is a description?

A description is a more detailed explanation, maybe two sentences long, that illustrates main points of the call.

What are episodes?

Each call that follows in a series is considered an episode.

Where can I view my billing statements?

All past charges and billing statements can be viewed at within your dashboard.

How do I get charged?

We charge your credit card you used to sign up. Please keep in mind that it is your responsibility to keep your card current.

When do you bill me?

Every 30 days from your signup date.

Is there a minimum contract length you want me to sign up for?

No.

Since I use iTunes and ask my team to use iTunes, how confidential are my calls and the audio recording. In other words, I really don’t want the rest of the world listening to our private calls.

Think of iTunes as a radio with a CD player. The feeds that you drop into iTunes are the equivalent of CD’s that you play on that radio. While you may be able to tune into radio stations like everybody else (i.e. iTunes store and public podcasts) you may also chose to listen to your CD at times and only you will be able to listen to it.

How will I know that the feeds are not being passed around to people outside my team?

While we cannot prevent someone from forwarding a feed much like you can’t prevent someone from making photocopies of confidential documents, we do give you the possibility to mandate subscriber authentication. This ensures only the intended subscribers can listen. In addition we will redflag anyone that appears to be sharing his/her identity (i.e. username and password) and stop the feed from “feeding”, i.e. distributing content.

How is this different from webinars and regular conference calls?

The main difference is that regular conference calls and webinars are great for live calls, but still can be inconvenient because participants have to be available at a certain time and a certain place in order to get the information shared. Only Podference makes the content available to the participant at the convenience and location of the participant. Yes, they can participate in the live call, and they should if they’re expected to contribute to or lead the call, but for anyone else that just needs to be in the know, Podference really is the only solution to easily make these conversations available at the click of a button on their iTunes or iPod.
